Resources to Support Sharing the Common Core with Families

The following materials can be used, adapted, or sampled from in order to share information about the Common Core standards and changes to the upcoming State tests for grades 3-8 with families during parent-teacher conferences or other school events:

• A brief introductory video from Chancellor Walcott
• A facilitator guide with sample agenda and key messages to share about these important issues (grades 3–8, high school)
• An accompanying activity featuring sample old and new State test questions (grades 3-5 , grades 6-8, high school)
• A PowerPoint presentation describing the new standards and changing State tests

You can also utilize this Template for Sharing Student Work. Samples include: ELA Grade 2, ELA Grade 8, ELA Grades 9-10, Math Grade 2, Math Grade 8, and HS Algebra.
