The District 75 Office of Literacy strives to implement authentic literacy instruction in all District 75 schools, so that students may become lifelong readers and writers. The district literacy team supports the implementation of the Common Core Learning Standards, the ELA Instructional Shifts with an emphasis on rigor, text complexity and high expectations. The Director of Literacy along with the district literacy coaches coordinate and serve as liaisons to the D75 schools spread across the five boroughs of New York City. We provide instructional support for individual teachers, teacher teams and school administration to ensure that each child is instructed based upon the needs of his/her individual education plan as best aligned/connected to the CCLS. Ongoing professional development workshops in various literacy areas are offered and follow up support is provided by the literacy team.
