Class Size Report

2009-10 Preliminary Class Size Report (updated on 11/27/09)

Excel versions of the 2009-10 Preliminary Class Size Report are posted below. The report includes class size data at the citywide, borough, district, and school levels. For middle schools that program classes using the HSST/STARS scheduling system, average class size data is reported by core subject (English, Social Studies, Math and Science) as well as by official class. Additionally, to improve accuracy of reporting at the high school level, a process was created to identify classes assumed to be Collaborative Team Teaching (CTT).  Please click here for a detailed explanation of the average class size calculation methodology.

A detailed PowerPoint Presentation provides helpful information summarizing and explaining the class size reports. It includes a review of changes made to our reporting format and important notes about the data.

As in previous class reports, the 2009-10 Preliminary Class Size Report uses a point-in-time “snapshot” of the data and is identical in format and methodology.  The data presented in the current report reflects unaudited enrollment information pulled from the Department of Education’s systems of record on October 31, 2009.
