Panel For Educational Policy

Storm Related Updates: November and December Panel Meetings

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the DOE has withdrawn ten proposals currently under consideration for the November 8, 2012 PEP meeting.  Due to bad weather and subsequent school closures citywide, the legally mandated joint public hearings for these ten proposals (see list below) were postponed.  Continued bad weather and school closures prevented the rescheduling of these ten joint public hearings in time to be voted on at the November 8 PEP meeting.

In light of these circumstances, the DOE has re-issued these ten proposals for a new PEP vote to take place on December 20, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. at The High School of Fashion Industries located at 225 West 24th Street, New York, NY 10011.  The DOE has selected this date in the interest of providing these proposals with a new PEP vote that allows ample notification to communities and ensures that the maximum number of community members can attend both the joint public hearings and the PEP vote on the proposals.

This new meeting will replace the currently scheduled December 12, 2012. PEP meeting.  All ten re-issued proposals will be found here:

http://schools.nyc.gov/AboutUs/leadership/PEP/publicnotice/2012-2013/Dec2012Proposals.htm

Amended notice for the twelve proposals currently scheduled for a December 12 PEP vote will also appear here with the new December 20 PEP meeting details; no joint public hearings from these twelve proposals are impacted by the move to December 20.
