Teaching Complex Texts Using Common Core-aligned Unit Text Collections

Session Description

This activity focuses on a high-leverage strategy for implementing this shift: designing and asking open-ended, text-dependent questions which help students to access complex texts. In this activity participants experience an example and a non-example of this type of question, discuss the type of support teachers will need to incorporate these questions in their instruction, and become familiar with a framework for developing these questions.
