Summer in the City's Summer Academy offers enriching programs for students who are English Language Learners (ELLs) and currently enrolled in grades 2-11.
Students currently enrolled in grades 2-8 can continue strengthening their academic skills through fun and interactive activities. The Summer Academy's ELL program also offers support to students who are currently enrolled in Spanish or Mandarin bilingual programs. Contact your child's principal to enroll.Grades 9-11

The Division of English Language Learners and Students Support (DELLSS) is committed to provide a rich educational experience for all English Language Learners in collaboration with school communities, families, and all key stakeholders. DELLSS provides ongoing support and guidance in the effective implementation of bilingual and ENL programs through staff development, resources and technical assistance which incorporate data and research based practices. DELLSS ensures educational equity by adhering to all applicable Federal, State, and City policies as well as informing future policies. DELLSS does this to realize our vision of all English Language Learners graduating with a high-quality education that is equitable, rigorous, and supportive, that values their cultural and linguistic assets, so that they are prepared for college, careers, and leadership in a global society.
In New York City, we provide bilingual programs (Transitional Bilingual Education and Dual Language) that strengthen students’ native language development and content knowledge while they build their social and academic English skills. We also provide English as a New Language (ENL) programs that use strategies for English language development with native language support so that students develop language and content knowledge in English.

Placements in a bilingual special education (BSE) program in districts 1 - 32 are prioritized for students who have this recommendation on their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
