CBO Director Cohorts
Last school year, OECE launched the CBO Early Childhood Leadership Development. A subset of Directors across the city had the chance to join peer learning communities to support their efforts to drive quality improvements at their sites. This year, we are expanding this initiative.
Jessica Anderson, Kiderific Nursery, Bronx, describing the benefits of participating in the Cohort Initiative:
“The Director's Cohort is a professional community that has been instrumental in influencing my practice. The topics, conversations, and information exchanged during our meetings are priceless. I find it most beneficial to speak to other Directors about the strengths and weaknesses of my program and get honest, constructive feedback from those who have had success. The Director's Cohort is unique in that it consists only of fellow Directors, and it gives us a chance to discuss the issues that Directors need addressed
in a judgment-free environment. Being part of the Director's Cohort has made new initiatives such as Work Sampling, ECERS-R, and the Quality Review less mysterious and cumbersome. It is great knowing that there are other people out there dealing with the same challenges I am.”
