Course Description: ELA Teachers of grades 6, 7 and 8 may register to attend training in the new supplemental Middle School ELA Classroom Library Collections which are being added to the existing classroom libraries. This one-day workshop will introduce teachers to the new library titles, themed collections, and strategies for their use. Participants will work with some of the recently published books, magazines and graphic novels that are included in the new collections and will receive instructional materials for use with the collection.
There is no cost for the workshop but participants must register on Protraxx in advance in order to attend.

Course Description: Two half-day workshops on Big Ideas for Managing Differentiated Instruction and Putting Fluency in Perspective, presented by Jan Hasbrouck, author and educational researcher. The morning session focuses on differentiation: increasing diversity in our classrooms has created an interest in providing multi-tiered differentiated instruction that effectively meets the needs of every student. However, teachers and administrators report they have received little training on how to organize and manage whole class and small group instruction. This session provides some proven-effective methods for how to set up classrooms so instruction can be differentiated. The afternoon session on reading fluency presents a summary of research on the role of fluency in reading procedures and a description of a systematic, explicit, and effective strategy to improve the reading fluency of all students.
