      2013 Gifted & Talented Summer Testing
    Eligibility
    Children are eligible for summer testing if they meet the following requirements:
    1. In September 2013, the child will be attending kindergarten and was born in 2008 
      or
      In September 2013, the child will be attending  1st grade and was born in 2007
    2. Child is currently a resident of New York City
    3. Family established residency in New York City after November 16, 2012
    Requesting Testing
    If you meet all of the above requirements you may submit a Request for Testing (RFT) on behalf of your child. To submit a Request for Testing (RFT), please review the instructions and required documents included in the RFT form.
     
    Testing Dates
    Families will be notified by email of their child’s test date and location during the first week of July.  All testing will occur during the week of July 8, 2013. 
     
    Eligibility to Apply for Gifted & Talented Programs
    Eligibility is based on the child’s percentile rank on both the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT-8) and Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT-2), sibling priority, family preferences (ranked program choices), and available seats.
    • Children who score between the 90th and 96th percentile are eligible to apply to District Gifted & Talented programs.
    • Children who score at or above the 97th percentile are eligible to apply to both Citywide and District Gifted & Talented programs.

      Please note: There is no guaranteed offer for Gifted & Talented programs

      Score Correction Information
    Families recently received score reports for the assessments used to determine Gifted & Talented (G&T) eligibility. Pearson, the vendor responsible for the G&T assessments, made an error in calculating students’ results. The information below is provided to support you in understanding what happened, how the error may change G&T eligibility and the application process for your child, and the resources available to you.
