The Showcase Schools program is designed to recognize, celebrate, and share promising practices across New York City Department of Education schools. Showcase Schools promote collaboration by hosting three visits throughout the school year, in which any interested NYC DOE educator may attend.
The Showcase Schools program was launched by Chancellor Carmen Fariña in 2014, who believes that “collaboration, not competition” is the key to school improvement. With the support of the Office of Interschool Collaborative Learning, Showcase Schools each host three visits where visitors will learn about specific practices, the conditions that contribute to their growth and sustainability, and the story of how they came to be. There are currently 37 schools participating in Showcase for the 2016-2017 school year.
