Recommended Curricula (Algebra 2 / Trigonometry)

Implementation of the new high school math course Algebra 2 and Trigonometry will begin in September 2009.  About 20% of the topics have not been taught in previous high school math courses. The  Department of Mathematics recommends the Algebra 2 / Trigonometry books from Pearson / Prentice Hall, and from McDougal-Littell. These recommendations are based on evaluations conducted by a committee of two dozen math educators, representing teachers, assistant principals, principals, coaches and staff from School Support Organizations and the UFT Teacher Center. Publishers on this recommended list are committed to providing schools which choose their curricula with pacing calendars and summer professional development, which will be organized through the Department of Mathematics.
