SIgn Language Interpreting Services
District 75 provides interpreting services to its students. The Office of Sign Language Interpreting Services (OSLIS) provides sign language interpreting services for all New York City Department of Education non-classroom activities. A staff of 21 nationally certified interpreters provide more than 1200 hours a month of interpreting services to staff , students and parents who are deaf. Settings can include CSE/HHVI reviews, parent-teacher meetings, impartial hearings, staff development and graduations.
In 2003 OIS was awarded a five-year grant from New York State Education Department to establish a computer lab and provide professional development for Department of Education (DOE) interpreters.
