Final Notice of Recommendation (FNR)

Final Notice of Recommendation (FNR)

Whether your child is remaining in his or her current school or will be attending a new school, you should discuss all possible programs and services in detail at the IEP Team meeting. School placements for students with disabilities are based both on the recommendations in the student's IEP and on the criteria used to determine placement for any public school student:

  • The student's zone or district
  • Whether the student has a sibling in the school
  • In some cases, the grade level of the sibling

A document called "Final Notice of Recommendation" tells you the recommendation for your child. If it is in a different school, you are entitled to visit the school to decide if it meets your child's educational needs as recommended in his or her IEP.
