Physical movement stimulates academic success by helping students to be alert and have the energy to learn. Move-to-Improve is a free classroom-based physical activity program that helps elementary school teachers enhance their lessons with activities that get students moving.
Designed in collaboration with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Move-to-Improve activities have become an integral part of elementary classrooms, with nearly 11,000 elementary school teachers trained since 2012, and more than 100 “All-Star” schools. Schools are eligible for All-Star status when a majority of classroom teachers use the program in classrooms as part of, and in addition to, a comprehensive Physical Education program.
