Background
The NYC Languages Other Than English (LOTE) examination is a Regents-like comprehensive examination offered in 21 languages for grade 11 and 12 native language speakers and for students studying a course in one of these languages. With the elimination of the NYSED Regents Comprehensive Exams in Foreign Languages, students will be able to meet the language assessment requirement by passing the NYC Language Other Than English (LOTE) examination aligned to the Checkpoint B Learning Standard for LOTE. These regulations can be found here.
LOTE exams will be administered on Monday, June 18, 2012 at 1:15 p.m.
NYC will offer French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, and Spanish LOTE June 2012 exams at NYC public and charter schools that offer these courses.

Administration
If your school has 15 or more students who are native language speakers of a specific language, or if your school offers a foreign language course to 15 or more students for which there is no Regents exam offered by the State, you may be able to administer the LOTE exam. Please note that in order to administer the LOTE, your school must have a licensed assistant principal of foreign languages or a trained assistant principal and a licensed pedagogue who will administer and rate the exam.
