3-K for All brings free, full-day, high-quality education to three-year-old children in New York City. 3-K programs lay a strong foundation for children to grow, learn, and explore the world around them. Families can choose from three types of settings for 3-K programs:
Fill out the Get-in-Touch Form if you would like to receive more information about programs in Districts 5 and 16 when they are added to the application in mid-April, or if you have additional questions about 3-K. Available in ten languages.
New York City families with children born in 2015 can now apply to 3-K. Programs in District 5 and District 16 will be added to the application in mid-April. Submit an application between February 5 and May 11, 2018:
Interpretation services are available in more than 200 languages for over-the-phone and in-person application submissions. You can ask questions and request information about admissions in any language when you call or go to a Family Welcome Center.
All families who submit an application by the deadline will get their results letter in late May 2018.If you get a 3-K offer, pre-register in person at the program where your child got the offer by June 2018 to reserve your seat. Contact the program to schedule a time. Learn what you need to bring to pre-register your child.

EarlyLearn NYC offers full-day, full-year early education programming for eligible children from six weeks through four years old. Enrollment is year-round, and EarlyLearn programs may have income or other eligibility requirements. Find an EarlyLearn NYC program near you.
When you apply, you will need the following information:1. Your child’s name and date of birth2. Your name and contact information3. Name, date of birth, and grade of siblings who will be enrolled at the programs you are applying to (if any)4. The programs you are applying to, ranked in order of your preference
You can list up to 12 programs on the application and you should rank them in order of preference. You can apply to any 3-K programs in Districts 4, 5, 7, 16, 23, and 27.
You will get an offer to your highest ranked program possible. If you can be matched to more than one of your program choices based on your priority level, you will get an offer to whichever program was ranked higher on your application.Listing more programs on your application makes your application stronger, and will not decrease your chances of receiving an offer to your first-choice program.To learn about Admissions Priorities and to see a full list of each program’s Admissions Priorities, please see each district’s 3-K Program List.
No, submitting your application early does not give you an advantage. All applications received by the May 11 deadline are treated the same.
All New York City families with children born in 2015 are welcome to apply to 3-K, but not all families who apply will get a 3-K offer. Families who live in a district that offers 3-K have a priority to attend most programs in their district.EarlyLearn NYC is a separate full-day, full-year early childhood education option for children from six weeks through four years old. EarlyLearn programs may have income and other eligibility requirements. Find out if you qualify by calling 311 or using the Child Care Eligibility Wizard, or by contacting EarlyLearn programs directly.
Some community-based NYCEEC 3-K programs have more eligibility requirements related to your household income, your address, government services you receive, or your child care needs. These programs may be able to provide free or low-cost extended day services to eligible families. Some programs may require a fee for the additional services they provide (such as longer hours).NYCEECs with other eligibility requirements are listed in the 3-K Program Lists. Please contact these programs directly before completing your application, to find out about additional eligibility requirements.To accept an offer to one of these programs, you may need to bring documentation that shows you are eligible to accept the offer, in addition to the required NYCDOE documents that you need to pre-register for 3-K.
Some programs offer extended hours (such as early drop-off and/or late pick-up services) as an option for families. You can find out which programs offer these services by looking at the “Program Information” section for each program in the 3-K Program Lists or in 3-K Finder. You don’t have to use extended hours and programs may charge fees—contact programs directly for more information.
No, the NYCDOE does not provide transportation for 3-K students unless required by an Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Yes. All New York City families with children born in 2015, including students with disabilities, can apply to 3-K programs for the 2018-2019 school year through the 3-K application process described in 3-K Program Lists.
