Speaker Quinn and Members of the City Council Visit OACE Brooklyn Adult Learning Center
On March 23rd,
City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn
, Education Committee Chair, Robert Jackson and Council Members Al Vann, Sara Gonzalez, Annabel Palma, and Lewis Fidler,
visited OACE's Brooklyn Adult Learning Center
, located in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The Speaker and her colleagues toured the center, visited classes, and spoke with adult education students.
The Brooklyn Adult Learning Center offers 112 classes, serving about 2,900 students each year. Immigrant students at the center represent over 85 countries worldwide. The most common countries of origin are Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, Guyana, St. Vincent & Grenadines, St. Lucia, Grenada, Bangladesh, Barbados, Dominican Republic and Nigeria.
