District 23 Kindergarten Admissions
In November 2012, the District 23 Community Education Council approved a plan to make District 23 an elementary choice district. This means that there are no longer any zoned elementary schools in District 23.
District 23 Admissions Update
The District 23 Elementary School Directory is now available.

The District 23 Fair, where families can learn more about the admissions process and their elementary school options, will be on Thursday, February 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The fair will be located at P.S. 156 Waverly (104 Sutter Ave).

Admissions Priorities in District 23
Admissions Priorities are the order in which applicants are considered for placement. Students in District 23 will receive priority to elementary schools in the district in the following order:

1. In-district students with a verified sibling in the school who will be in grades K-5 in September 2013;
2. Out-of-district students with a verified sibling in the school who will be in grades K-5 in September 2013;
3. In-district students currently attending the school's pre-kindergarten program;
4. Out-of-district students currently attending the school's pre-kindergarten program;
5. In-district students other than those in (1) and (3) above;
6. Out-of-district students other than those in (2) and (4) above.

If there are more applicants than available seats within a priority group, seats will be assigned by lottery to members of that priority group.
Submitting an Application to Kindergarten in District 23
You will be asked to indicate your preference for specific schools on the District 23 application. You should only rank the schools you are interested in having your child attend.

Starting January 22, 2013, families will be able to submit an application in one of three ways:
  • Online
  • In Person at an Enrollment Office
  • Over the Phone
