IN THEIR OWN WORDS
Our school was the first Diploma Plus school in New York City and State. Students are provided with an opportunity to accelerate their career in a student-centered environment and a competency-based curriculum that is aligned with City and State standards. Teachers use a variety of instructional strategies to meet students’ needs. Our caring staff is attentive to the developmental needs of young adults and offers engaging interdisciplinary projects. Portfolios play a central role and provide students with an opportunity to reflect on specific content. Technology is infused throughout the curriculum. Each student participates in a Leadership class similar to an advisory program. The goal of Leadership class is to empower students to become independent thinkers, clear communicators and effective problem solvers who are prepared to meet the challenges of adulthood. Students have opportunities for dual enrollment through the “College Now” program. The Learning to Work program provides meaningful paid internships.
