IN THEIR OWN WORDSWe are a community of learners engaged in meaningful work. Our mission is to capture the energy and interests of young people by providing apprenticeships in the adult world. Students are required to participate in the apprenticeship program 2-3 days per week and give quarterly public presentations of their learning. Each student’s curriculum is determined by his or her unique interests, background and learning style. Each teacher is responsible for only 15 children. Learning Through Apprenticeship (LTA) is the center of the Bronx Guild curriculum. At the worksites, students take on real-world tasks and projects under the supervision of a mentor. Back at school, the students work with their crew leaders building and reinforcing the skills and knowledge needed to complete those projects. Our very successful program has placed students in over 300 apprenticeships since opening our doors in 2002.
