Specialized High Schools Institute The Specialized High Schools Institute (SHSI) is an extracurricular program that prepares middle school students for the academic challenges of high school and to compete more effectively when taking the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT). Special Education Services A key goal of the New York City Department of Education is the achievement of high levels of performance for all students, including those with disabilities.
