Zoned Schools Specialized High Schools Institute The Specialized High Schools Institute (SHSI) is an extracurricular program that prepares middle school students for the academic challenges of high school and to compete more effectively when taking the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT). Special Education Services A key goal of the New York City Department of Education is the achievement of high levels of performance for all students, including those with disabilities. Middle schools offer an array of special education services to support students which are detailed in the district directories.
Some students can enroll in zoned middle schools. The zoned school is determined by your home address. Students wishing to attend their zoned middle school should list it on their application after any other choices for which they would like to be considered.
