RECRUITMENT INFORMATION FOR 2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR 



For the 2008-2009 school year TYWLS, Queens will have 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grades only.

8th and 10th grades
There are currently no open spots for the 8th or 10th grades, however, please call the school at 718-725-0402 (ext. 5 or 6) to be placed on a waiting list.  

9th Grade
All interested parents and students must go through the  High School Application Process .  Please speak to your daughters' current Guidance Counselor for more information.

7th Grade
All interested parents and students must attend an

Open House.  Following is the Open House schedule and more information: 


Step 1: 
Incoming 7th Grade potential applicants must attend one of the following Open Houses with their parent/legal guardian. 

Saturday, April 5, 2008  9am-12pm

Location:

Step 2:
Letters of acceptance will be sent out.

Step 3:
Accepted students must attend Orientation with their parents where they will receive information on ordering the gym and dress uniforms.  Orientation will be in April or May.  Exact date to be announced.


 

    PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS 
     
    At TYWLS,Queens promotion is based on the NYC Department of Education Regulation of the Chancellor Promotion Criteria which states that each student is required to:

    1.  Attain passing grades of 65 or higher in all subjects, which include but are not limited to:      
        English 
        Mathematics    
        Science    
        Social Studies

    2.  Passing is based on the :
        Student's work
        Teacher's observation
        Assessments/Grades

    3. Achieve at or above a level 2 on the Standardized Math and English exams

    4.  Attain 90% attendance
