P.S. 236
The Mill Basin School
Parent Handbook 2009 – 2010
When can parents meet with the teachers?
The teachers at P.S. 236 are committed to educating our children and will generally make themselves available to meet with parents anytime throughout the school year, as long as classroom instruction time is not interrupted. Teachers will not be available for conferences between 8:37am – 8:50am as this is crucial time to prepare children for the day. Teachers also may not enter into conversations with parents at dismissal time until all children are dismissed.
Meetings with teachers can be arranged by:
- Sending a written message to the teacher via your child.
- Calling the school and leaving a message for the teacher.
- Making arrangements via your Parent Coordinator. Antoinette LaBella (347) 563-4608
Parent Orientation Meetings
Parent Orientation meetings will be scheduled during the month of September. A letter with specific dates and times will go home in the near future. We hope that you will join us at this time to learn about what your child will experience this year and to meet his/her teacher.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher conferences are held twice a year. The conferences are a great opportunity to meet
with your child’s teacher(s) and find out how your child is doing. The conferences are also a good
time to ask questions and share ideas about your child’s skills and progress.
