P.S. 236
The Mill Basin School
Parent Handbook 2009 – 2010
Safety and Security
In light of national tragedies involving children and for their protection, all visitors to our school must sign in at the desk located in the lobby. You must show photo ID and state your business to the School Safety Agent. You will be issued a pass, which you must wear while you are in the building. You should only go to that area of the building where you have business.
Parents will not be permitted to escort children into the building at entry time. Kindergarten parents will only be allowed to escort children into the building at entry time September 10th. If you are not in compliance with our request, you will be asked to leave by the School Safety Agent or another member of the staff. Please understand that, for safety reasons, we must retain vigilant awareness of all adults in the building. Controlling access greatly impacts upon school security. Kindly note that parents are not permitted in the lunchroom to assist children during the lunch period.
We ask for your cooperation with our requests. This will ensure an orderly entrance and dismissal each day as well as optimum safety for your child.
For the protection of the students, no student may leave the school building without permission. No student may leave to buy lunch or snacks. No student may leave the school yard for any reason during lunchtime.
AT P.S. 236, THE SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE CHILDREN IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY!
