I.S. 285 has many in-school and after-school programs to help foster a well-rounded education for its students. Low performing students are scheduled for in-school PCEN Math and reading classes in addition to their regularly scheduled classes. I.S. 285 also offers extended day classes in reading and math as well as Saturday Academy Classes in reading and math. Saturday classes for Specialized High School preparation are also offered as a part of our Saturday Academy. Academic Intervention Services (AIS) include guidance counseling, a school psychologist, an in-house suspension program, a volunteer teacher-tutoring program, and an extended day Sports and Arts program. I.S. 285 also offers the ASTRAL program and Javits program for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
