Remembering September 11th: Resources for Educators and Parents

September 11, 2013 marks the twelfth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum are a tribute of remembrance and honor to the people who died in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. As we plan for the opening of school on September 9th, it is important that we are again prepared to engage students in meaningful discussion about the events of 9/11.

The 9/11 Memorial, in collaboration with the New York City Department of Education, is offering instructional resources that include lesson plans developed with NYC teachers. These materials can be downloaded for classroom use. Links to counseling resources are provided to offer support to those students and staff members who may need assistance on this special anniversary, especially those who were directly affected either by the attacks or the rescue and recovery efforts.
