Interpublic Group and the New York City Mentoring Program recognized Carolyn Acevedo and Tyeshia Smith as the winners of the New York City Mentoring Program’s college scholarship at a reception on June 26, 2006.
Carolyn, a senior at Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis High School, will be attending Long Island University where she will be in the honors program studying English and pre-med in the fall. She and her mentor, Nicole Dupre, from Lehman Brothers, have been paired for two years. Tyeshia, who graduated from James Madison High School, will be going to the University of Buffalo to study management information systems and business. Over the last two years, she has been mentored by Twana Harris, of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
The two students competed against 51 other graduating mentees from around the city and were chosen based upon the excellence of their two essays, community service involvement, grade point average, school attendance, and interview.
Over the past 13 years, Interpublic Group has generously contributed $125,500 to the New York City Mentoring Program for scholarships for college-bound senior mentees.
