First Annual Madison Avenue Gallery Walk Benefits The Fund for Public Schools

Student artwork on display at the Madison
Avenue Gallery Walk

The Fund Partners with Local Businesses to Support the Arts

On May 10, over 60 art galleries along Madison Avenue opened their doors as New Yorkers gathered to support public school arts education. A number of galleries offered free guided tours led by public school art teachers.

A highlight of the event was the outstanding public school student artwork that was on display at several locations. Students and their families were thrilled to see their work hanging at some of the most prestigious, world-renowned art galleries that line Madison Avenue.

The day was capped off by a silent auction at Bonhams of 28 pieces of professional artwork donated by participating galleries. The auction raised vital funds for the Summer Arts Institute, an intensive, four-week arts program for public school students in grades eight through twelve. The Summer Arts Institute offers a unique opportunity for students to work with master NYC Department of Education arts specialists, cultural partners, and guest artists.

The Madison Avenue Gallery Walk was generously supported by HSBC, Bonhams, and the Madison Avenue BID.
