The Fund for Public Schools manages three grant programs to which New York City's public schools can apply: Legacy Libraries, Library REACH (Revitalizing Education for Adolescents and Children), and Arts SPACE (Supporting Performing Arts and Creative Education). These grant programs enable public schools from across New York City to enhance their school libraries and performance facilities.
Legacy Libraries
The Fund is pleased to announce a new library upgrade grant program, called Legacy Libraries. This program invites NYC public schools to apply to be a part of a fundraising campaign for an upgrade worth up to $50,000 to their school library to enhance its ability to help the school meet its student achievement goals. Please note: the application submission period for this program has closed. We encourage you to check back periodically for updates.
Library REACH
Through Library REACH, New York City public schools can apply for grants of up to $10,000 to improve their library programs. Library REACH grants enable schools to upgrade their technology and audio visual resources, build their book collections, provide professional development for librarians, and develop comfortable and inviting reading areas for students to read and learn.
To date, The Fund has raised over $2 million for Library REACH, and more than 200 schools have received these grants, impacting over 190,000 students across New York City. Library REACH applications will be available in the Fall.
Arts SPACE
Arts SPACE is a program to which New York City public schools can apply for grants of up to $20,000 to improve their performing arts spaces. Since its creation in 2003, Arts SPACE has enabled more than 50 schools to make improvements to their facilities, including installation of new stage curtains, sound equipment, choir risers for auditoriums, and more. Applications are not currently available. Please check back periodically for updates.
