Students at P.S. 173 pose with coats they collected for New Yorkers in need.
Students at P.S. 173 in Flushing are helping to keep some New Yorkers warm this winter.
Student council members organized a coat drive and have donated more than 50 coats so far to
New York Cares.
“Our school collected six very large plastic bags full of coats that we hope will help keep our fellow New Yorkers warm,” said fifth-grader Abraham Oh, President of the Student Council. “This is what being a member of the Student Council is all about.”
“I think everyone should be helping the poor,” said fifth-grader Jennifer Zheng, the Student Council Secretary. “It feels good to know that someone who doesn’t have a coat will have one.”
