Due to the conditions created by Hurricane Sandy, all New York City public schools will be closed to students Thursday, November 1 and Friday, November 2. All after-school activities and Public Schools Athletic League events will also be cancelled.
All school-based staff should report to work at 10 a.m. Friday, November 2. Currently there are some school buildings without power or with severe damage from the hurricane. As a result, staff from these schools should report to an alternate location on November 2.
Please refer to this list to see where you should report on November 2; if your school isn't on the list of relocating schools, please report to your regular location. [NOTE: This list is current as of 8:41 AM 11/2.] This is an evolving situation; we will continue to update this list as we receive information about building conditions from the field.
Please continue to check our web site and communicate with your principal about your designated location for tomorrow. If your principal has already contacted you about alternate arrangements for tomorrow, please report to the location he or she has provided. Contact your principal with any questions or concerns. Employees affected by Hurricane Sandy can get more information here.
Schools will reopen to students on Monday, November 5.
