Mathematic Course Selections
These courses are the first of the new Three Year
Sequence in Math. The majority of topics are in algebra; this will be followed by Geometry, Intermediate Algebra, and Trigonometry. The Regents exam is given at the end of each year.
Math A
This is the first sequence in the Math A and Math B curriculum. It is being phased out and replaced by the new three year sequence. Students who started in Math A last year will complete the new three year sequence. Students who started in Math A last year will complete the course and take the Math A Regents. This course includes topics in Algebra, Geometry, Logic, Probability, Statistics, and Transformational Geometry.
Math B
This course includes more advanced topics in algebra, and geometry, transformational geometry, circles, relations, functions, logarithms, and exponential functions. A Regents exam is given at the completion of the course. This course will also be phased out and replaced by the new Three Year Math Sequence.
Honors Classes
Honors and Scholars class are offered. These classes cover the same topics, with the addition of enrichment and opportunity to prepare a research paper in the students’ field of interest.
Pre-Calculus
A one year course that completes the study of a variety of topics.
Advanced Placement Calculus
A one year course that can give students credit for college calculus. Topics include limits, differentiation, integrals, and their various applications.
Applied Mathematics
A one year non-regents course for students who have completed two year of regents in math. Topics include inductive and deductive reasoning, sequences, functions and logarithms.
