Great teachers change lives. They unlock their students’ potential and put them on paths to success. Over 75,000 teachers are making a difference in the lives of New York City’s 1.1 million students. The Big Apple Awards: Recognizing Teacher Excellence in New York City celebrates educators who inspire students, model great teaching, and enrich their school community.
This year, we received over 3,000 citywide nominations, nearly 60% of which came from students and families. Based on your nominations, 12 educators have been named as 2014 Big Apple Awards recipients, along with more than 100 outstanding finalists and semi-finalists. Recipients receive a classroom grant for their students and schools, and serve as citywide Big Apple Fellows for the 2014-15 school year while they continue to make an impact in their classrooms.
