Community Education Councils (CECs)
The 32 Community Education Councils serve as a vehicle for parent involvement on the district level. Council members focus on issues that face their local school populations in collaboration with the community superintendent.
Each CEC has a total of 11 members:
- 9 parents of K-8 students (1 of the 9 must be the parent of an ELL, and 1 must be the parent of an IEP student)
- 2 appointees from the Borough President
There is also1 non-voting high school student on each CEC.
