RFP TITLE: SPECIALIZED HIGH SCHOOLS ADMISSION TEST (SHSAT) RFP NUMBER: R1061RFP DUE DATE & TIME: October 23, 2014 by 1:00 P.M. ETPRE-PROPOSAL CONFERENCE: September 29, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. ET, located at the NYC Department of Education, 131 Livingston Street, Room 610, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE), on behalf of the Division of Teaching and Learning, is seeking proposals from qualified organizations, to provide a standardized testing program which is designed to select students for admission into the specialized high schools.The assessment will cover mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA) skills at the highest level of performance for students who have completed 7th or 8th grade. These skills will include critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are part of the Common Core Learning Standards. Approximately 30,000 eighth graders and 5,000 ninth graders take the SHSAT annually. The first test administration is tentatively scheduled for the Fall 2016. Detailed requirements are provided in the RFP. The RFP may result in award of one (1) requirements contract for a base term of six (6) years which will cover five (5) test cycles over the six (6) year contract period. The NYCDOE reserves the unilateral option to extend the contract for two (2) additional 1-year periods. Services are anticipated to commence in the Summer 2015.

The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) is seeking consultants and a team leader to provide support to principals and other school-based supervisors in observing and evaluating pedagogues. Labor Support Unit Consultants are assigned to cases involving U-rated teachers and other pedagogues, and work with Principals and Assistant Principals to prepare documentation of underperforming pedagogues and other school-based personnel. The Labor Support Unit Team Leader acts as a liaison and support conduit between attorneys and the Labor Support Unit Consultants as well as between and among a limited number of school administrators.
