The Division of Financial Operations administers and implements the annual Teacher's Choice Program that provides educators an opportunity to procure instructional materials and basic classroom supplies from funds specifically allocated for this purpose. This program supports the efforts of school based educators to enhance the learning experience of students by maximizing the flexibility to purchase materials for use in their classroom or office assignments.
Purchases for school year 2008-2009 may commence on August 1, 2008. However, all participants are required to retain all original receipts, which you will later be responsible for attaching to your Accountability Report, indicating all items purchased and the dates that the materials were brought into the schools.
All individuals on staff as of November 1, 2008 in each of the categories listed (click here), who provide services to NYC public school children are eligible to participate in this year’s (FY’09) program. Eligible participants will receive allocations in the amounts indicated in accordance with all guidelines, procedures and forms provided on this website for the duration of the program, which will end on March 15, 2009.
Detailed guidelines, procedures and new forms are provided below. This year’s Teacher’s Choice Allocations will be provided as either a direct deposit or as a debit card. The Teacher’s Choice EFT will be deposited on December 4, 2008. A “Direct Payment Card” will be issued with the December 15th payroll distribution for all those not enrolled in the direct deposit program.
