August 2009
The Division of Financial Operations administers and implements the annual Teacher's Choice Program that provides educators an opportunity to procure instructional materials and basic classroom supplies from funds specifically allocated for this purpose. This program supports the efforts of school based educators to enhance the learning experience of students by maximizing the flexibility to purchase materials for use in their classroom or office assignments.
Purchases for eligible materials for school year 2009-2010 may commence on August 1, 2009. However, all participants are required to retain all original receipts, which you will later be responsible for attaching to your Accountability Report, indicating all dates of items purchased that were brought into the schools.
All individuals actively employed as of November 1, 2009 in each of the categories listed (click here), who provide services to students at a NYC public school site are eligible to participate in this year’s (FY’10) program. Eligible participants will receive allocations in the same amounts as last year as indicated in accordance with all guidelines, procedures and forms provided on this website for the duration of the program, which will end on March 15, 2010. Detailed guidelines, procedures and updated forms, which are all similar to last year’s program, will be provided in the fall.
Teacher’s Choice allocations will be scheduled for receipt in December, 2009. This year’s Teacher’s Choice allocations will once again be provided as either a direct deposit or as a debit card. Debit cards or “Direct Payment Cards” will be issued for all those not enrolled in the direct deposit (EFT) program for payroll. However, if you received a debit card last year, please be sure to retain your card so that we may replenish it with this year’s allocation. If you are not enrolled in the EFT program and do not wish to receive your allocation on your debit card you must notify our office in writing prior to October 9, 2009 stating that you do not wish to participate in this year’s Teacher’s Choice program. We will not be able to issue paper checks.
All previous year’s issues concerning Teacher’s Choice for SY 2008-2009 had to be submitted to our office in writing prior to June 12, 2009 and can no longer be addressed.
