If you were not accepted into the Pool, you may reapply six months from the date of your most recent application. See below for the reapplication timeline when submitting a formal appeal.
All applicants are evaluated based on the NYC DOE School Leadership Competencies
. We encourage you to use the feedback provided in your individualized Pool Candidate Report to continue to bolster your areas of strength and to address areas in need of improvement. You may want to speak with a supervisor, mentor, or trusted colleague to get additional feedback. In addition, please continue to seek out professional development opportunities that contribute to your development as a future school leader.Appeals Process
If you were not accepted into the Principal Candidate Pool and would like to appeal the decision, you must submit a written statement within 15 days of your notification. For all notifications sent between February 1, 2008 and November 12, 2008, applicants have until close of business on December 5, 2008
to submit an appeal.
Using the form at Principal Candidate Pool Appeals
, you should present evidence of proficiency in the School Leadership Competencies in 250 words or less. You are encouraged to address Competency areas in need of improvement as demonstrated by the Pool Candidate Report. The Office of School Leadership will aim to render a decision within 60 days of the appeals submission.
Applicants who submit an appeal can reapply eight months from the date of their original application. Formal appeals must be submitted in writing by the applicant. Verbal and third-party appeals will not be accepted.If you have any questions, please contact us
