District 75’s Arts Department supports schools in providing access to quality, sequential K-12 arts instruction in an environment organized to offer opportunities and supports appropriate to student abilities.

Arts learning experiences for our students, based upon the New York City Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts Curriculum and The New York State Standards for the Arts, are crafted to be flexible and rigorous for students at all ability levels.

The Arts Department serves as a resource by providing professional development, and procuring grants, partnerships and collaborations between schools and the cultural community. An arts integration model engages students in various arts experiences linked to literacy in the arts, making arts connections to other academic areas, utilizing community cultural resources, acquiring knowledge of arts careers, and encouraging students to regard arts as a means of expression and a source of lifelong enjoyment.
As a 2010 recipient of an Investment In Innovation (i3) Grant Program award by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Investment and Improvement, District 75 participates in a 5-year professional development research project focused on promoting effective practice using multi-disciplinary, integrated arts instruction to enhance student learning.
