Science

The vision for improving student achievement in science rests on the ability to provide opportunities for students to become immersed in a variety of hands-on/minds-on learning experiences that are interesting, stimulating and relevant to the lives of students with special needs.

To accomplish this goal, our science team’s mission is to

  • identify and disseminate effective standards-based curriculum resources
  • create and support high-quality professional development materials for teachers
  • provide opportunities for a broad spectrum of project-based learning experiences in our schools including science fairs, exit projects, school gardens/ponds/horticulture, among others
  • collaborate with various institutions and educational facilities that promote inquiry science

“Nothing comes to the mind that does not first come to the hand.”
