Impartial Hearing Order Implementation Unit

The New York City Department of Education administers Due Process Hearings, known as Impartial Hearings, as required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. At the start of the 2011-12 school year, the DOE launched the Impartial Hearing Order Implementation Unit to manage the implementation of Orders arising from these hearings. The Implementation Unit is responsible for the implementation of Orders, either directly, or by working with other DOE offices, schools, outside vendors, and parents, among others. The Implementation Unit conducts outreach to parents, advocates, attorneys and vendors to collect all information and documentation necessary to make payment or deliver services pursuant to Orders. Parents, advocates and attorneys should direct all questions about implementation of an Impartial Hearing Order to the Implementation Unit.
