Q: What is a Certificate of Salary Differential and how can I apply for one?

A: A Certificate of Salary Differential is based on academic achievement beyond your bachelor’s degree.  An original transcript from your college is needed before you can apply for one.

Q: Where do I apply for a Certificate of Salary Differential?

A: The Office of Salary Status located at 65 Court Street, Room 814. You can obtain information and forms for Salary Steps and Salary Differentials on the Division of Human Resources (DHR) website.

Q: Who can apply for the Certificate of Salary Status?

A: Only a regular appointed pedagogue can apply for a Certificate of Salary Status.   

Q: Where can I apply for a Certificate of Salary Status?

A:The Office of Salary Status located at 65 Court Street, Room 814.

Q: How many steps am I entitled to per year?

A: As a regular appointed pedagogue, you receive two steps per year provided you have an anniversary/equate date, otherwise you receive only one step per year.  As a full-time substitute pedagogue, you will receive two steps per year based on your length of service up to a maximum of step 4A.

Q:  I applied for my Certificate of Salary Differential.  When will I be paid?

A: Please contact the Certificate Unit at (718) 935-3542 if a Certificate of Salary Differential has been issued.  If you have not received a Certificate of Salary Differential please contact the Office of Salary Status at (718) 935-2642.
