NYC Great! (Girls Reaching Every Apex Together) is designed to provide experiences that support the development of leadership and communication skills in young women who are currently attending high school. The program aims to serve as a vehicle for young women to find their voice, articulate their purpose and to become architects of their own future as it pertains to successfully graduating from high school and making college and career choices. The goal of each interaction with participants is to have them consider, “Why settle for average when you can be GREAT?”
DREAM is an extracurricular program of rigorous coursework focused exclusively on training students to compete on the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT). Coursework emphasizes verbal and math skills, problem-solving, critical analysis, time management, and test sophistication strategies specific to the SHSAT. It also includes a guidance piece for the children, as well as, recreation time in the summer sessions. It is a citywide test prep program, designed for 6, 7, and 8th graders, to prepare them to take the SHSAT in an effort to diversify the student population in the Specialized High Schools in NYC.
