40 Minutes of Parent Engagement

40 Minutes offers ideas for many creative ways to involve families in schools and in their child's education. Principals and SLTs should meet at the beginning of the school year to discuss ideas and a plan for using the 40 Minutes.

Training Modules

1. Roles and Responsibilities

The School Leadership Teams Roles and Responsibilities Presentation and Workbook is a review of basic information on the Purpose, Practice and Responsibilities of School Leadership Teams for team members and non-team members who may be interested in knowing more about SLTs. NYC DOE workshop facilitators can download presentations here. 

2. Shared Decision-Making

The Shared Decision-Making Presentation and Workbook is a review of basics for Shared Decision-Making as prescribed in Chancellor’s Regulation A-655.  The activities illustrate the practice behind building consensus as a decision-making tool. 3. Making Participation Meaningful

The Making Participation Meaningful training module and Workbook are the third in a series of workshops designed to support the ongoing work and functionality of an SLT. This training module looks at participation as an engagement strategy to strengthen the collaborative work of SLTs and discusses positive group dynamics. Remuneration Form

SLT members should use this form for submission record of attendance at team activities (combination of meeting, service hours and training on the CEP and budget.) Team members will complete the information in the first 3 sections of this claim form and before June 1st of each school year, forward the original form to the team's Liaison for Financial Matters, who will confirm the attendance. Remuneration is pro-rated $10.00 per service hour up to 30 hours.
