Minority and Women-Owned Business

The Department of Education ensures that minority and Women-owned businesses are equitably included in the procurement process and encourages Minority and Women Business Enterprises in participating in the Agency's Purchasing and Professional Services contracts. The Office of Equal Opportunity has been involved in ensuring that M/WBEs are informed and educated in the purchasing process by performing the following functions:

1) Provide technical assistance services, e.g., informing prospective vendors of the M/WBE certification process and how to do business with the Department.

2) Sponsor and attend various M/WBE conference and seminar.

3) Inform vendors on where to apply for M/WBE certification.

4) Provide assistance to M/WBEs for placement onto DOE's Bidders List.
