Budget Module


This Self Paced Module will equip school based personnel with a basic understanding of how to construct a school budget including the various fund sources and tools to effectively navigate the budgeting systems.

Budget and Grants Management Module

The ISC Budget and Grants Self Paced Module will focus on strategies, techniques and tools for effective management of the school budget, enabling schools to achieve fiscal integrity and maximize resources.  This module will equip school-based personnel with an understanding of how New York City public schools are funded, and provide tools to comprehend the fiscal foundations of budget and grant management. Learn to manage fiscal resources with integrity! Acquire knowledge to optimize utilization of available resources in the school budget! Understand key budget concepts, processes and reporting functions essential to effective school-based fiscal management!

Human Resources/Payroll Module

The ISC Human Resources / Payroll Self Paced Module will focus on the New York City Department of Education’s Human Resources polices and procedures related to staffing schools, changes in personnel status and payroll processing. Emphasis will be placed on tools and practices to support effective management of these functions at the school. It will also assist Principals and other school-based staff in understanding the basic Human Resources functions that occur within their schools.

DOE History Module

An interactive module that tours the history of the department identifying milestones and facts ranging from the beginning of the Board of Education to the current Department of Education. Issues of BOE governance and school reform are discussed culminating with an inside look at our classrooms today.

Procurement Module

The ISC Procurement Self Paced Module will focus on the New York City Department of Education's procurement policies and procedures. This interactive learning tool for DOE employees will highlight the following processes: Contracted Purchases, Non-Contracted Purchases, Travel Reimbursement Approval Certification (TRAC), Procurement Card (P-Card), Small Item Payment Process (SIPP), and Certification of Delivery.

Suspension Procedures for Students with Disabilities Module

This course outlines the procedures to follow when students with disabilities are suspended. It provides step by step directions schools must follow when students are suspended for more than 10 days and includes suspension plans and Manifestation Determination Reviews (MDR).

IEP Management Module  

Participants will learn, at their own pace, how to establish a comprehensive school-wide system to manage and maintain IEPs in order to ensure compliance and timely case completion. Participants will view an in-depth description of the IEP meeting, including the role and responsibilities of the District Representative. There is also a thorough explanation of Educational Benefit, which is an integral component of every IEP. Included are suggestions for ensuring timely IEP data entry and the importance of having an individual assigned to check IEPs for accuracy. In addition, there is a comprehensive appendix with available online and traditional resources.

Title I Compliance Module 

This Self Paced Module will provide a comprehensive overview of Title I including school eligibility requirements and appropriate allocation of these funds. Those who take advantage of this training module will be able to develop, refresh and improve their knowledge of this federal funding source.
