Level A Responsibilities:

  • Manages interdisciplinary teams of professional and technical staff assigned to more simple, moderated and complex architectural design projects.

  • Recommends policies and procedures on architectural related subjects.

  • Participates in establishing and setting performance standards for the design phase of new construction, renovations and system replacements.

  • Participates in meetings with other divisions, contractors and community groups as they relate to architectural design matters.

  • Establishes major tasks, performance standards and rating schedules to be used in the performance evaluation of Authority professional and technical staff.

  • May approve and seal drawings and other documents in behalf of the Authority.

  • Plans, assigns, monitors, reviews and evaluates the work performed by architectural staff and makes recommendations regarding recruitment, hiring, promotion, reassignment and discipline.

  • Performs related tasks.

    Level B Responsibilities:

  • Manages interdisciplinary teams of professional and technical staff assigned to more complex projects.

  • Plans, assigns, monitors, reviews and evaluates the work performed by Managing Architect, Level A and other related positions and makes recommendations regarding recruitment, hiring, promotion, reassignment and discipline.

  • May perform duties of Managing Architect, Level A.

Required Background (Experience/Education):

  1. A valid New York State license as a Registered Architect,

    and

  2. Level A positions require seven years of full time progressive experience as a Registered Architect; three years must have been as a project leader, project architect or major project contributor,

    or

  3. Level B positions require eight years of full time progressive experience as a Registered Architect; four years must have been as a project leader,  project architect or major project contributor,

    or

  4. A satisfactory combination of education and experience.
