MENTOR PROGRAM
The SCA seeks to increase, facilitate and encourage the participation of Minority, Women-Owned and Locally-Based Enterprises (M/W/LBEs) by providing a flexible framework for eligible firms to develop and grow within the construction industry and to establish stable, long-term business relationships with the SCA.
Through its Mentor and Graduate Mentor programs, the SCA seeks to increase M/W/LBE participation in school construction projects.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIVISION (BDD)
The Business Development Division (BDD) assists in the economic development of construction trade contractors. This is accomplished in part by first certifying firms either as a Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE), a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) or a Locally-Based Business Enterprise (LBE). Because all firms must be pre-qualified in order to do business with the SCA, the BDD works closely with the Contractor Qualification Unit in assisting MBE, WBE and LBE firms to become pre-qualified.
The BDD has five main focuses: Contract Compliance, Minority Business Certification/Re-certification, Minority Business Outreach, Minority Business Development and Internship Programs.

PUBLIC ART FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS
The NYC Department of Education (DOE) and the NYC School Construction Authority (SCA) are committed to creating the best possible educational environment for New York City's school children. Public art is an integral component of that environment.
The mission of Public Art for Public Schools (PAPS), a DOE unit housed at the SCA, is to commission art for new school buildings and to protect and conserve all existing artworks. To achieve that mission, PAPS administers four programs: Sites for Students, Percent for Art, a professional conservation program, and an adopt-an-artwork program.
