DREAM - SHSI

DREAM- SHSI

DREAM is an extracurricular program of rigorous coursework focused exclusively on training students to compete on the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT).  Coursework emphasizes verbal and math skills, problem-solving, critical analysis, time management, and test sophistication strategies specific to the SHSAT. It also includes a guidance piece for the children, as well as, recreation time in the summer sessions.  It is a citywide test prep program, designed for 6, 7, and 8th graders, to prepare them to take the SHSAT in an effort to diversify the student population in the Specialized High Schools in NYC.

District 79: Alternative Schools and Programs

NYCDOE strives to ensure that every student has the opportunity to earn a high school or General Education Development (GED) diploma. We recognize that many students need additional supports to succeed in their current school or require alternative pathways to attain a high school or GED diploma. District 79 was established to help students succeed by providing diverse and innovative educational opportunities that combine rigorous academic instruction with meaningful youth development.
