Schools Chancellor Joel I. Klein today announced the appointments of Luz T. Cortazzo and Dov Rokeach as Community Superintendents and Isabel B. DiMola and Doris Unger as High School Superintendents for the New York City Department of Education.
“Luz, Dov, Isabel, and Doris have distinguished careers as educational leaders in our schools,” Chancellor Klein said. “All four have demonstrated a real passion for education and a strong ability for supporting schools and school leaders. I have no doubt that in their new roles they will continue to excel at helping our schools and our students to achieve.”
Ms. Cortazzo will serve as the Community Superintendent for District 4. She has served as a Senior Achievement Facilitator since July 2007. She previously served as the Local Instructional Superintendent for Region 10. Mr. Rokeach becomes the Community Superintendent for District 8, a position he previously held from 2003 to 2007. He most recently had been serving as a High School Superintendent and Senior Achievement Facilitator.
Ms. DiMola has served as principal at Richard R. Green High School of Teaching since July 2004. Earlier, she was an assistant principal at the school. Ms. Unger has served as principal at Lafayette High School since April 2007. She was previously the principal at Seward Park High School.
All appointments are effective immediately.
