Statement by Chancellor Walcott on New York City Schools Named “Blue Ribbon Schools” By U.S. Department Of Education

“New York City is home to six public schools that today received the 2013 Blue Ribbon Award from the United States Department of Education. P.S. 199 Jessie Isador Straus in Manhattan, P.S. 222 Katherine R. Snyder School in Brooklyn, P.S. 247 in Brooklyn, P.S. 66 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in Queens, P.S. 221 The North Hills School in Queens, and P.S. 46 The Alley Pond School in Queens are 2013 Blue Ribbon Schools as a result of their all-around academic excellence, and their success in preparing students for college and careers. I congratulate the principals, students, teachers, and parents at these six schools for receiving this honor; it is a testament to all of their hard work and dedication to student achievement.”
